It seems that proposal of introducing 50% reservations in India's central universities is going to become a reality. With no political opposition in sight, India's "government" is all set to see through their nefarious designs. Our 'honourable" Human Resources Minister Mr. Arjun Singh has already said that quota decision is final. To say that Congress government is playing a dangerous game is the understatement of the year. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be any sense of rage against it in the Indian media, atleast not in the online editions. This coming proposal is the single most outrageous piece of legislation in the history of independent India and there is not even a whimper of protest against it. If this proposal becomes a reality, we will see a new and far worse India, where people are by law discriminated on the basis of caste and religion. If this doesn't call for a show of outrage then I can't imagine what will.

Yes I agree that a particular caste has been oppressed over the years but are reservations the solution?
There are already 23 % reservations. Not enough?
56 years of reservations, how far have we come? Nobody is against up-liftment of the poor. All we are saying is RESERVATION is NOT the answer. How about some SCHOLARSHIPS as the real backwards are poor.
How about giving them free training for a year and getting the people up to a standard to be able to fight it out only on merit. THE REAL BACKWARD CANNOT EVEN AFFORD TO BUY THE ADMISSION FORMS TO THESE INSTITUIONS. MOST OF THE REAL BACKWARDS DO NOT GO TO SCHOOLS. (Our country is 50% LITERATE, leave alone EDUCATED to a 10th std level).
How about opening more schools (with adequate infrastructure)? If the Govt. had over the last 56 yrs opened enough colleges we would not have had to fight it out at all.
The Govt. is not serious about upliftment.
They WANT to keep people backward as the backward(uneducated) are the people who fall for the election promises. Think of it, in Tamil Nadu Rice for Rs.2? Free Colour TELEVISIONS? (Yes these are the promises by politicions to the real BACKWARD).
We are blogging and they are not. Yes I agree.BUT that underscores the FINANCIAL aspect,nothing else.

L.K. Advani is a Bania (OBC). Nitish Kumar(CM Bihar),Paswan,Dharam Singh(ex-CM Karnataka),Lalu Prasad Yadav(ex-CM Bihar,what did he do for his community?) all are from the backward community.
You said Dalits do not go to schools that is the point give them PRIMARY & SECONDARY education first.
By reserving seats you are going to harm the people form the OBC,SC,ST who come to the edu. inst. on merit. EMPLOYERS are going to look down upon them as ones who came in through a short cut. Then what reservation in Private Companies?

The politicians WANTEDLY keep he truly backward (some of the obc/sc/st etc) backward!
They are the only people who get fooled by them and vote for them. Considering that only 50% of our country is literate (leave alone educated to a 10th std level), they have a large vote bank!
We students,educated people,tax payers constitute a very small percentage of the country's population.(1 Billion).
The Govt. (headed by our very own M. Singh) had asked for a head count of a particular community in the army. Looks like Manmohan Singh (I am not going to call him Mr./respected/honourable etc. any more,he is just another politician) has gotten used to getting Honarary Degrees from universities abroad ( To please them he had even said that the British rule was good for India!) and has forgotten the effort put in by students to get those degrees.
Remember he is NOT an elected representative. He has been brought in from the Raya Sabha.
The three points (50% reservation,army head count and praising the British for exploiting our country) have shown his true colours. I used to think that our beloved country is going to move forward after he became PM , I WAS WRONG.
